Surgical procedures

For surgical procedures you must consider the following:

  • A call will be made days before your surgery to confirm the arrival time.
  • Bring the surgery´s authorization and a photocopy of the patient's identity document.
  • Bring all tests (ultrasound, CT, Doppler, x-rays, laboratory tests) performed.
  • Must have been assessed for anesthesia before scheduling the surgical procedure.
  • Bring the anesthesia consents and the procedure already read and signed.
  • Wear comfortable clothes, without jewelry or other valuables.
  • Perform routine personal hygiene.
  • Don't wear any makeup, nail polish and cut your nails.
  • On the day of your surgery inform the staff about the use of dentures or other removable dental appliances and the use of contact lenses.
  • Attend with a companion of legal age and who knows your background (diseases, surgeries, medicines, allergies, among others). Make sure that your companion is not an adult of old age, do not bring babies or minors. Only one relative per patient is accepted, both must have time available for that day.
  • If your surgery is scheduled in the morning, the last food intake should be before 10:00 p.m. of the previous day and if it is in the afternoon hours it must be before 5:00 a.m on the same day. In any case, follow the recommendations given in the anesthesia consultation.
  • The day before surgery, the last meal should be in a small amount and include only liquids.
  • If you use acetylsalicylic acid (Asa, Aspirin, Aspirinet, Asawin), Ginkgo Biloba, Clopidogrel, Omega (3, 6, 9) or Warfarin (Coumadin), you should inform the anesthesiologist and remember to follow your doctor's instructions.
  • On the day of your surgery, only take the medications that were authorized with a small amount of water.
  • Bring a bag so that your family can keep your belongings.
  • If you have a cough, sore throat, nasal congestion or diarrhea, you should inform the hospital two days before your surgery.
